Milia seeds and skin tags are common, benign skin growths that may appear on the face or body. While they are not harmful, some individuals choose to remove them for comfort or cosmetic reasons. At S Aesthetics Clinic, removal is performed after proper clinical assessment to ensure suitability.
Benefits:
Note: The procedure focuses on aesthetic removal and does not address underlying medical conditions.
Milia seeds are small, white or yellowish bumps that form when keratin becomes trapped beneath the surface of the skin. They are non-infectious and commonly appear around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead. Milia are typically firm and dome-shaped.
Skin tags, on the other hand, are soft, flesh-coloured growths that develop due to repeated friction or skin rubbing. They often appear on areas such as the neck, eyelids, underarms, chest, and body folds.
Both conditions are benign and non-cancerous. Removal is generally performed for cosmetic or comfort-related reasons.
Appearance
Skin tags are small, soft growths that may be flesh-coloured or slightly darker than the surrounding skin. They can be flat or attached by a thin stalk.
Texture
They are usually soft and flexible to the touch and may move slightly when pressed.
Causes
Skin tags are commonly associated with friction, skin rubbing, hormonal changes, and genetic predisposition.
Common Locations
They are frequently found on the neck, eyelids, underarms, chest, groin, and other skin folds.
What Types of Skin Tags Can Be Removed?
Benign, superficial skin tags that are small to medium in size, soft, non-bleeding, and not inflamed may be suitable for removal. Lesions that appear unusually large, pigmented, bleeding, or atypical will require further medical assessment before any procedure is considered.
Appearance
Milia seeds are tiny white or yellowish bumps that sit just beneath the skin surface. They are usually uniform in shape and size.
Texture
They feel firm and do not flatten when pressed.
Causes
Milia form when keratin becomes trapped under the skin. This may occur naturally or after skin irritation, trauma, or certain treatments.
Common Locations
They are commonly seen around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead.
What Types of Milia Seed Can Be Removed?
Primary milia and superficial secondary milia that are stable and non-inflamed may be suitable for aesthetic removal. Deep, inflamed, or atypical lesions require further assessment and may not be appropriate for cosmetic treatment.
Electrocautery
Electrocautery is a minor clinical procedure where controlled heat energy is applied to the skin tag using a cauterisation device. The heat allows the skin tag tissue to be carefully removed in a targeted manner. This method is commonly used for small, benign skin lesions.

Manual Extraction
Manual extraction is performed using a sterile needle or fine surgical instrument to create a small opening in the skin. The trapped keratin is then carefully released. This method is suitable for superficial, stable milia.
Note: The procedure should not be attempted at home, as improper technique may increase the risk of infection, inflammation, or scarring.

Chemical Peels
Mild chemical peels may be used in selected cases to support skin exfoliation. By encouraging the removal of surface skin cells, chemical peels can help reduce the likelihood of keratin becoming trapped beneath the skin.
Note: Suitability depends on the individual’s skin condition and will be determined during consultation.
Laser Therapy
Laser therapy may be considered for persistent or multiple milia that are not easily addressed through manual extraction. The laser targets the superficial lesion in a controlled manner.
Removal reduces raised or uneven lesions on the skin surface, allowing the treated area to appear more even once healing is complete.
For individuals who feel self-conscious about visible milia seeds or skin tags, removal may help improve overall skin appearance.
Skin tags located on areas such as the neck, underarms, or body folds may cause irritation due to rubbing. Removal may help reduce this discomfort.
The treatment is typically performed within a short session in a clinical setting without the need for general anaesthesia.
Most individuals are able to resume normal routines shortly after the procedure, with minor temporary skin reactions expected during healing.
Price | Pricing starts from $54.50 per lesion. The total cost may vary depending on the number of lesions treated in one session, the size of the milia seed or skin tag, and the location of the lesion. The final cost will be confirmed after a doctor’s assessment during consultation. |
The procedure addresses superficial, benign milia seeds and skin tags. It does not treat underlying dermatological diseases or suspicious skin growths.
Step 1: Initial consultation and assessment
The doctor will examine the area to confirm it is suitable for removal. It is benign and suitable for aesthetic removal.
Step 2: Treatment session
The treatment area is cleansed. A topical numbing cream may be applied to reduce discomfort. Afterthat, the removal treatment is carefully done using appropriate clinical techniques.
Step 3: Immediate post-care
The area is cleaned, and aftercare instructions are provided. You may also be observed briefly to ensure there are no immediate reactions, then cleared to go home. Most patients can return to normal activities the same day, following aftercare guidance.
Possible temporary effects include:
In rare cases, minor bleeding or infection may occur, particularly if aftercare instructions are not followed. Most side effects resolve within several days to 1–2 weeks, depending on individual healing response.
Milia seed and skin tag removal is intended for benign lesions. Any lesion that appears atypical, inflamed, bleeding, or suspicious will require further evaluation before removal is considered.
Patients are advised to avoid picking, squeezing, or scratching the area before treatment. Strong active skincare products such as acids or retinoids should be avoided on the treatment area if advised by the doctor. It is important to inform the doctor of any medical conditions or medications.
After treatment, the area should be kept clean and dry. Avoid touching, picking, or scratching the treated site. Excessive sun exposure, heat, or strenuous activity around the treated area should be avoided for a short period. Any prescribed aftercare products should be applied as instructed, and scabs should be allowed to fall off naturally.
The treated lesion is removed immediately during the procedure. Mild redness or scabbing may be present during healing. Once the area heals, the skin generally appears more even at the treated site. Healing typically takes a few days to 1–2 weeks depending on lesion size, location, and individual healing response.
