As the field of aesthetic medicine constantly evolves, the development of products, medical innovations and enhanced injection techniques open up a limitless array of treatment options. As aesthetic doctors, we constantly work to understand these developments in a bid to achieve the best results for patients like you. That includes making sure that our knowledge on the use and application of fillers.
At S Aesthetics Clinic, we use top-end products, like Juvederm’s range of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers from Allergan.
What is Hyaluronic Acid (HA)?
HA is a natural polysaccharide that exists in the human dermis. Due to its chemical structure, it is highly water soluble and will readily dissolve in water to form a viscous clear liquid. HA’s “water loving” nature means that it plays a crucial role in the regulation and maintenance of hydration in tissues.
What Issue Do HA Fillers Help With?
Volume loss is a fundamental component of facial aging. In addition, fat redistribution and other changes in tissue composition worsen these aging effects. HA fillers or injectables are an established means of addressing these issues.
What is Unique About the Juvederm’s HA Fillers?
Allergan, one of the top biomedical companies in the world, has come up with their Juvederm range of products. These are HA-based injectables which use a synthetic form of HA that has been further stabilised by patented Vycross crosslinking technology which increases the longevity of the product. Non-crosslinked HA remains in the body for only a few days before being naturally degraded.
Structurally, the HA present in the Juvederm range of products is similar to the HA that is present in the native tissues of our bodies. This provides biocompatibility and good tissue integration, with almost no chance of rejection or allergies. Each of their products in the range varies, with specific physicochemical properties. This variance allows us to tailor/customise treatments for specific areas of the face and for each individual patient.
How Are Juvederm’s HA Fillers Used on Patients?
Each patient possesses a uniqueness. They all hold unique features, goals, and desires. It is within this uniqueness that each patient’s individual beauty exists and blooms from.
At S Aesthetics, Dr Ashley believes in treating the individual patient, and customising the treatments accordingly for each patient. The uniqueness of each patient, together with the facial differences and varying signs of aging are all considered when planning treatments with Juvederm products. The goal is to restore facial balance and enhance the natural beauty of each patient. And more often than not, several areas of the face may need treatment, to optimise results.
The Juvederm range of HA fillers allows Dr Ashley to do exactly this. The wide range of products allows him to treat the upper face, mid face, lower face, lips and even skin quality.
What Do Each of Juvederm’s HA Fillers Do?
In order to understand why these fillers are so useful, we have to take a closer look at each one of them.
Juvederm Volite hydrates your skin and improves skin quality.
Volite is mainly used as a skin booster to hydrate the skin and improve its quality. It also helps to reduce fine lines. Volite lasts for up to 9 months, and has a HA concentration of 12mg/ml. Its low cohesivity and elasticity makes it ideal for use as a skin booster.
Juvederm Volbella smoothens and refines features while reducing fine lines.
Volbella is used to smoothen and refine features. It can be deployed in the periorbital area (around the eyes), upper face and in the lips. Volbella lasts up to 12 months, and has an increased HA concentration of 15mg/ml for increased cohesivity and elasticity.
Juvederm Volift shapes features, lifting lines and sunken areas.
Volift is used to lift and fill lines and sunken areas. It can also help shape features. Volift can be used across the entire face, including the forehead, upper face, mid face, nasolabial folds (NLF) and even the lips. It also lasts longer than Volbella, for up to 18 months. With a higher HA concentration of 17.5mg/ml, it has increased cohesivity and elasticity.
Juvederm Voluma corrects volume loss and restores facial shape.
Voluma, as the name suggests, helps to replace volume loss and restore facial shape. It can be used at the temples, midface and lower face regions. Voluma can last up to 24 months and has a high HA concentration of 20mg/ml, for even higher cohesivity and elasticity than Volift.
Juvederm Volux sculpts chin and jawline angles.
Volux is the latest in the Juvederm range, used to sculpt and define the chin and the jaw. Similar to Voluma, it can last for up to 24 months. It has the highest HA concentration in the range, coming in at 25mg/ml. What sets it apart from the other Juvederm products is its high cohesivity and elasticity, with both values more than double that of Voluma. This really allows the doctor to perfectly sculpt and define the chin and jaw.
What is the estimated cost for Juvederm?
Juvederm Volite, Juvederm Volbella, Juvederm Volift & Juvederm Voluma are retailing at $864 for the first syringe while Juvederm Volux’s first syringe is retailing at $1,188.
