chin fillerA person’s chin can have profound effects on his or her overall look. A V-shaped face, commonly associated with beauty and elegance, is the ideal look for many, yet not all enjoy the privilege of being born with one.
Non-Invasive Chin Filler

A short and broad chin is likely to make one look plumper even when he or she is of healthy weight. A pointed and slim chin, on the other hand, tends to make one look more attractive and sharp. If you happen to be in the former group, you might also be looking to have your chin reshaped without undue risks and costs. Not all hope is lost, fortunately. Technological advancements in the areas of medical aesthetics have brought about the possibility of being about to refine the shape and length of your chin, all without going under the knife. The chin filler is one such procedure.

Utilising hyaluronic acid filler injections, the non-surgical and quick procedure helps you refine both the side and frontal profiles of your chin, and in turn your overall looks.

Comparatively Lower Cost

A relatively common aesthetics procedure in Singapore, the chin filler is considered one of the safest ways to quickly and easily achieve a sharper looking chin. The hyaluronic acid found in this filler is a component that may also be found naturally in your body’s joints, eyes, skin and various parts of your body. The procedure is thus safely reversible, either by dissolving the injected filler or by your body’s own natural breakdown mechanisms over time.

While a chin filler, like most other procedures, does not bear results that are permanent, the low risks involved, quick results and low costs compared to a surgical one makes it a popular option among Singaporeans. For those looking to refine their looks without worry and extended downtime, this is a solution that you might want to consider.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A CHIN FILLER

The actual chin filler procedure takes only approximately 15 minutes or less. 1 or 2 injections are meticulously administered to targeted chin areas. There is normally no or little bleeding arising from the procedure. Pain is reduced to a minimum with use of a numbing agent administered together with the chin filler. Local anesthesia may be used to reduce pain as well.

The chin typically requires around 1cc of chin filler to achieve visible results. For more pronounced effects, 2-3cc of chin filler may be used to achieve the desired look.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS FROM A CHIN FILLER

As with other injection treatments, you may experience some dull ache, swelling and light bruising near the areas where the filler has been administered. These usually resolve on their own in a couple of days.

Results after a chin filler is usually visible immediately after the procedure, though this may vary from person to person.

COST OF A CHIN FILLER

On average, a chin filler cost SGD856.00 for hyaluronic acid chin filler. The rate may also be dependent on skin type, condition and other variables. Discuss with your doctor for a specific amount. Make sure to eliminate any hidden costs when checking price and that the amount is final and net.

WHY CHOOSE S AESTHETICS TO COMPLETE YOUR CHIN FILLER

With S Aesthetics Clinic’s doctors, well known for being gentle and skillful, you will likely require just one or two injections to targeted areas of your face in order to achieve your ideal look. Pain and downtime is minimized or negligible with careful handling meticulous care. For clients going through a chin filler for the first time, just a small injection amount is required for visible results. Numbing agents are used with our filler injections to reduce any discomfort to a minimum.

A more toned and defined chin may be obtained with a chin filler procedure. For those with receding chins (also known as retrognathia), the procedure may help to bring the chin forward, at the same time making it look sharper and more pointed. For those with short or smaller chins (also known as micrognathia), the procedure may similarly change the contour of the chin to make it look slimmer and longer. The end result will be a V-shaped face that so many adore. Compare this with a chin implant over surgery; a non-surgical chin filler is not only safer, it sometimes provides better flexibility when it comes to altering the shape of the face.

Sometimes, for better and longer lasting effects, a tiny dose of botox injection may be administered to relax a muscle at the chin. The muscle causes the chin to appear shorter. The botox injection helps make the effects of the filler last longer.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS) ON DERMAL FILLERS
What is a dermal filler? How many kinds of dermal fillers are there?

A dermal filler, or simply filler, may be classified as one of the following; temporary, semi-permanent and permanent. The chin filler used in our procedure is the hyaluronic acid filler, a temporary filler that can last between 9-12 months. The reason for its use is simple; it is a naturally occurring substance that may be found in the body; it can be found in the eyes, skin and joints. Negative immune reactions are unlikely to happen with the use of this type of filler. This also means that the chin filler is an extremely safe form of treatment for contouring the shape of the face.

In the aesthetics arena, there are many other brands offer similarly good qualities and results. Speak with your doctor in more detail to find out which you may prefer.

There are also other fillers out there that are not based on hyaluronic acid. Examples include poly-L-lactic acid, calcium hydroxyapatite and poly-caprolactone. Such alternatives mainly work by creating a plumping effect in the initial stage and subsequently encouraging replenishment of collagen levels at where they are placed. Their effects are more pronounced in the mid-term; you might have to wait a little longer to experience their full effects. This, however, also does not mean that their effects are longer lasting than the more popular, newer and more current hyaluronic acid filler.

One way to experience longer lasting effects is to pick a hyaluronic acid filler that has greater viscosity. Speak with your doctor about this for more specific recommendations.

The longest lasting fillers are the semi-permanent fillers. These include polyacrylamide gel (i.e. plastic), and liquid silicone, possibly the longest lasting of the filler family. They can literally last for years. The downside to this category of fillers, however, are its higher tendencies to cause complications such as bumps and scars.

Why does the injected filler seem to deplete so rapidly within the first 3 days?

Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body without mixing with other bodily substances. In this mode, it is easily broken down by the body’s natural breakdown mechanisms, usually within 2 to 3 days.

The hyaluronic acid that breaks down within the first few days is the one that has not interacted with other substances of the body. This is also primarily why the injected filler seems to deplete so rapidly within the first few days.

The one that stabilizes and remains in the body after the initial stages of breakdown is the one that has been mixed and cross linked. This is also the one that will remain and allow you to achieve the desired aesthetics effects. This form of hyaluronic acid will still be broken down eventually but at a much slower pace. In other words, the more cross linked the hyaluronic acid is, the longer it may be retained in the body.

As with other injection treatment, an injected filler may also cause swelling of the skin. These usually resolves by themselves within a few days, which may also explain why there may seem to be a depletion in effects initially. The depletion in effects from swelling may be from 20-30%.

 .

Should I always choose a brand of filler that lasts the longest?

Many might think that the filler that lasts the longest will help to save the most costs. While this may be true to a certain extent, it is also important to consider the complications that may arise from use of such types of fillers. The longer lasting a filler is, the greater its viscosity and tendency to create problems such as scarring and bumps.

High viscosity hyaluronic acid fillers may also not be suitable for certain areas. For exmaple, fillers to be used in the cheeks have to be of lower viscosity to feel natural and softer.

 .

Why does my skin have a bluish spot after injection of a hyaluronic acid filler?

The bluish spot, if it isn’t due to bruising, could be due to the Tyndall Effect. What happens is that the injection of the filler has been done so near to the surface of the skin that the filler is visible through the skin. The bluish spot is actually the filler showing. The Tyndall Effect may sometimes be difficult to conceal even with makeup. The occurrence of the Tyndall Effect is uncommon, and it can be prevented by injected the filler into the correct layer of the skin. Fillers used today are very unlikely to produce the Tyndall Effect.

 .

Can I massage or wash my face after a chin filler?

Within the first 4 hours upon completion of a chin filler, the filler may be molded to its preferred shape. Fixation of the filler occurs around 2 days after completion of the procedure. Within the first 4 hours, pressure should not be applied on the targeted areas; no massage or excessive touching of the targeted areas. Only gentle washing of the area may be done. Within the first 2 days, prolonged pressure should not be applied to the targeted areas; one should not sleep on that side of the face as this may cause the filler to shift. One fixation of the filler is complete, you may go back to your daily routine without any restrictions.

MYTHS ON DERMAL FILLERS – PROVEN UNTRUE
Myth #1: Fillers are permanent and last forever.

Fact: There are both permanent and non-permanent fillers. Some are permanent. Some are semi-permanent. Some are temporary. In today’s aesthetics scene, hyaluronic acid fillers, a type of temporary filler, is commonly used because of its extremely safe properties. It is a component that may also be naturally found in the body and thus minimizing the chances of complications. Hyaluronic acid fillers typically last 6 to 12 months before they are naturally broken down by the body and absorbed.

 .

Myth #2: Fillers are harmful to the body since they are not permanent; they get broken down and absorbed by the body.

Fact: The absorption of broken down hyaluronic acid fillers do not cause any harm to the body. Hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring substance in the body. Even without introducing the acid via a filler injection, your body is also gradually breaking the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid found in the skin, joints etc. There are filler brands that have obtained FDA’s approval for use in clinical settings.

 .

Myth #3: A filler procedure requires surgery to place the filler into/under the skin.

Fact: A filler procedure is entirely non-surgical. Fillers for use in facial areas such as the chin, cheeks, nose etc may be introduced quickly and simply with a few micro-injections. Even for fillers on larger surface areas such as the chest areas, sometimes only just 1 or 2 injections are required for visible results. The process is quick, safe and with minimal pain and downtime. The possibility of scarring is close to zero.

 .

Myth #4: Frequent visits to the aesthetic clinic is required to replenish the filler levels.

Fact: Follow ups are required because temporary fillers are naturally broken down by the body over time. Its effects are less pronounced over time. Temporary fillers are, however, not in the least addictive and one may opt not to replenish fillers should he or she prefer. The injected filler will simply dissolve over time and that area that has been treated before will simply go back to its original state before treatment.

There can also be occasions when the results of a filler last longer than expected, typically after one or two follow up sessions. In such cases there is no need for frequent follow up sessions after the initial stage.

 .

Myth #5: Once the filler has been naturally broken down by the body and depleted, you will look worse than before.

Fact: Fillers do not cause any alterations to the area or parts that they have been injected into. After the hyaluronic acid within the filler has been absorbed, the treated area simply goes back to its original state before treatment. Temporary fillers typically last up to one year within the body, sometimes more. During this period, the body still undergoes the natural aging process; any changes after the filler has been depleted is only due to the natural again process.

 .

Myth #6: Fillers are harmful to the body in the long run.

Fact: Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance also found in a person’s joints, skin, eyes and various parts of the body. Over time, the hyaluronic acid in the body is broken down by the body’s own natural metabolism. Studies so far have not shown that that the absorption of broken down hyaluronic acid may cause any harmful effects on the body. In fact, more recent studies have shown that the process might instead boost collagen replenishment in the skin, allowing for longer lasting effects.

 .

Myth #7: Fillers alter the shape or nature of the targeted part(s) permanently.

Fact: Depending on the kind of filler used. Hyaluronic acid is a temporary filler that is broken down and absorbed by the body over time. Once they have been depleted, the part that has been treated by the filler returns to its original state. The body’s natural aging mechanism sometimes causes change in one’s look over the same period of time, but this is largely due to aging and not because of the temporary filler that has been used.

Permanent fillers, on the other hand, are not broken down or absorbed by the body. They can remain in the body for very long periods of time. Within this context, it can be said that permanent fillers alter the treated area permanently.

 .

Myth #8: A filler procedure on the face makes your face look unnatural and fake.

Fact: Utterly false. In fact, it is very difficult to look unnatural or fake with hyaluronic acid fillers. Results are visible and obvious yet they are able to blend in such a way that it looks completely natural. People who know you will probably notice you look more radiant and beautiful, but still would not suspect you having gone under the knife. It will be hard for them to pinpoint exactly what has been done to help you achieve better, youthful looks.

 .

Myth #9: Going through a filler procedure is painful.

Fact: As with other injection treatments, some pain is inevitable but this is usually minimal and goes away quickly right after the injection. Pain usually arises from the injections only. After the procedure, a light dull ache may develop but this too is minimal in terms of discomfort and will resolve itself within a couple of days. A person who has undergone filler treatment is usually able to return to their routine activities right after treatment.
